How to hand express breast milk. Renee Kam, Melbourne September 2018

Hand expression of breast milk: Renee Kam (IBCLC, NDC Provider) with Emma and baby Ryan. This video is also available in Free Resources for public use.

What will we use for the milk, the volunteer mother and the lactation consultant asked the producer and me, as we slipped away from our Masterclasses in Melbourne to film upstairs in someone’s hotel room.

We all hunted around for a suitable container. A plastic bowl? Too big. A cup? Too ugly.

"Let’s use this," I said, passing them a sparkling clean wine glass from the kitchen nook.

"Why not," my colleagues replied, laughing! A wine glass for this most precious, bioactive elixir, this living immune tissue - a woman's milk.
