Baby cry-fuss problems
Since I made this video, there has been more work showing that probiotics, and in particular Lactobacillus reuteri, is linked with decreased crying in babies.
It seems sensible, if your baby cries and fusses a lot, to use this probiotic for a time.
However, many of the crying babies I've seen for years are already taking probiotics - and are still crying and fussing a lot, in a way that distresses parents. My concerns about the 'blind spot' of undiagnosed lactose overload problems and how that might affect the research findings in this field remain valid.
I have the view that the many other things we deal when using the Possums 5-domain approach to unsettled babies will one day be shown to be more important, much more effective, than taking a probiotic, but we would do these things at the same time as we give baby the probiotic.
